Family-owned company will celebrate anniversary at June 15 event

BUFFALO, NY – Leaders at Eberl Iron Works, Inc., didn’t need to search any further than their own warehouse for a special way to commemorate their 90th year. Virtually every product of the family-owned company has been incorporated into a unique sculpture that stands six feet high and proudly wears the corporate color: blue.

Titled “Eberl Then and Now,” the sculpture was designed and built by employees Corey Beck and Raymond Owsian from a concept by David Cinquino. Shelves will display intriguing mementos of the company’s long history; many of these mementos any are collectibles that feature “Mr. Strut,” a cartoon mascot that Walt Disney himself drew in the 1950s to promote Unistrut products, for which Eberl was the first distributor.

“We wanted the sculpture to represent both modern and historical times,” Beck explained. “So we constructed it with current products from each of our lines, and then added souvenirs from the past.”

The sculpture will be the centerpiece of a June 15 event for employees, family and friends, which will also honor workers of 20 years and more.

The private celebration will be hosted by two generations of company leaders: cousins John C. and Nora E. Eberl; John’s father, George J. Eberl; and Nora’s father, Frank L. Eberl. John, chief executive officer, and Nora, chief financial officer, became third-generation co-owners of Eberl Iron Works in January 2012.

After its debut, “Eberl Then and Now” will be on exhibit at company headquarters. “It’s a wonderful way to pay tribute to our past, appreciate our evolution and keep our corporate history alive,” noted John Eberl. “Seeing it every day will inspire us to even greater accomplishments.”

“John and I feel blessed to reach this milestone,” said Nora Eberl. “Many family businesses never make it this far! We are happy to have this opportunity to thank family, friends and – most important – our co-workers, who have helped us achieve 90 years of service to our valued customers.”
