Job Description

  1. Summary:

The Eberl Iron Works, Inc. RTS Product Engineer will be responsible for the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and design to manufacturing and launch. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to ensure that our products are innovative, user-friendly, and manufacturable.

This Position Reports to:  System and Support Supervisor

  1. Product Responsibilities:

The RTS Product Engineer will have primary product responsibility for design, redesign, and production planning of all Rooftop Support Systems and Modular Mechanical Supports products and services.

  2. Collaborate with product supervisors and designers to understand user needs and translate them into actionable product requirements.
  3. Develop and iterate on product designs using CAD software and other 3D design tools.
  4. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to ensure product viability.
  5. Select materials and components that meet design specifications and manufacturability requirements.
  6. Develop and oversee the production process, working with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal resources to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
  7. Conduct product testing and analysis to identify and address any issues before launch.
  8. Stay up to date on industry trends and technologies to inform product development.
  9. Document product specifications and processes clearly and concisely.
  1. Communication:

The Product Engineer is required to communicate his/her weekly and monthly activity plan to the System and Support Supervisor. Weekly brief meetings will take place to discuss work focus. Monthly meetings will take place with the System and Support Supervisor and CEO.

  • Reporting:

Written reports will be required by the Product Engineer to communicate the status of the product developments directly to the Systems and Support supervisor. Weekly and quarterly reports are mandatory and must be timely, accurate, and detailed. The report should lay out the status of initiatives, design issues, changes to product conditions, along with requests for resources.

The Rooftop Support Systems division of Eberl Iron Works, Inc., designs and manufactures a full line of non-penetrating and direct-mounted support solutions for rooftop pipe, duct, and equipment as well as maintenance platforms, walkways, and railings for contractors in the MEP and fabrication trades. It is seeking a passionate problem solver with an eye for detail to bring ideas to life.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (master’s degree preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience of product development, ideally in a similar industry with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong understanding of design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with team members.
  • Familiarity with MEP products market.
  • Understanding of project drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Proficiency in CAD and 3D design tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for learning and staying up to date with new technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Reports to Systems and Support Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to understand user needs and translate them into actionable product requirements.
  • Develop and iterate product designs using CAD software and other design tools.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to ensure product viability.
  • Select materials and components that meet design specifications and manufacturability requirements.
  • Coordinate with third party engineering firms or perform relevant structural calculations (e.g. seismic, wind, loading, etc.).
  • Develop and oversee the production process, collaborating with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
  • Conduct product testing and analysis to identify and address any issues before launch.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and technologies to inform product development.
  • Document product specifications and processes clearly and concisely.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Design to Cost methodologies and tools.
  • Proven track record of successfully bringing products to market.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
  • Experience in designing HVAC, Piping, and Safety Walking supports.
